NCDOR Will Send Corrected Form 1099-Gs to Certain Taxpayers in March
March 9, 2015
NCDOR will mail approximately 43,000 corrected Form 1099-Gs to taxpayers in March. The initial version of the forms listed an incorrect refund amount because consumer use tax was not included.
The error generally only affected 1099-Gs for taxpayers who itemized deductions on their 2013 federal return and claimed use tax owed on their 2013 North Carolina state return.
The 1099-G provides taxpayers with the amount of their state tax refunds issued during 2014. That amount may need to be reported as income on the taxpayer’s 2014 federal individual income tax return.
The agency originally mailed 1.2 million Form 1099-Gs to taxpayers in January. For more information on the matter, taxpayers can contact NCDOR at 1-877-252-3052.
