Participants Call NCDOR Small Business Seminars Helpful, Informative
More planned throughout the state
Date: March 21, 2012
Last fall, the North Carolina Department of Revenue began a series of seminars focused on helping citizens understand more about launching and operating a small business. Sessions have been held cross the state in an effort to support small businesses that are so critical to North Carolina's economy.
Participants have praised the seminars as helpful, informative and worthwhile, saying:
"Well prepared information, good setting, made me feel comfortable."
"Information was very useful and practical. Good question and answer session."
"Very basic overview of what I need to do, which is exactly what I needed."
The seminars have been so well received, NCDOR will continue to host sessions throughout the coming year. Attendees take part in table-top exercises to learn about everything from registering a business, to filling out and sending in a tax return.
The next seminars will be held:
||5 Centerview Dr., Lenoir Building, Suite 100
||301 McCullough Dr.
||415 N. 2nd St, Cape Fear Community College (L) Building
||185 Freelander Dr., Haywood Community College Auditorium
Participants also get information about the Small Business Taxpayer Recovery Program—an initiative that is already helping thousands of small businesses who have fallen behind on sales, withholding and other trust taxes—by offering penalty and fee waivers, as well as longer-term repayment plans.
"These seminars are a way for state government to help new businesses get started by explaining the North Carolina tax laws in our state," said Gov. Perdue. "Events like this help us make government more user-friendly and easy to understand."
Seating for the seminar is limited; email SmallBusinessSeminar@dornc.com with the city and date you wish to attend to reserve a spot. More dates and locations will be announced throughout the year.
